The mission of the International Society
for Infectious Diseases is to enhance research, prevention, and treatment
of infectious diseases, particularly in low resource countries. The
Society's programs emphasize the transfer of information and appropriate
technology through training and education of health care professionals.
These programs include conferences, workshops, training grants, and
fellowships. Emerging diseases, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV),
appropriate antibiotic use and antibiotic resistance, and nosocomial
infections are among the areas where the Society currently has programs.
