ICID Cancelled for September 2020

Last Updated May 7, 2020

Due to the unfolding COVID-19 pandemic and the safety concerns surrounding mass gatherings, the organizers of the 19th International Congress on Infectious Diseases (ICID) have made the difficult decision to cancel the Congress scheduled for September 10-13, 2020 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We are currently working with our colleagues in Malaysia to look at  future ICID dates and arrangements.

We understand this cancellation disrupts plans, but we have an ethical obligation as a Society representing the global infectious disease community to protect and preserve health. The over 2,000 ICID participants are frontline workers needed in their home countries as there continues to be significant work to do before the COVID-19 pandemic is controlled. To our colleagues at the frontline of this evolving pandemic, we stand in solidarity with you.

On behalf of the ICID Organizing Committee, we want to thank everyone for their patience as we work diligently to explore the various options to share scientific updates with you, as well as reconvene ICID in the near future. You will be hearing from us as soon as we solidify our plans in the coming weeks.

Kind regards,

Alison Holmes, ISID President
Marc Mendelson, ISID Past-President
Zamberi Sekawi, MSIDC Past-President
