Thousand Pillar Temple
A quite drive of about 3 hours from the capital of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad, takes you 157 Km away to the ancient city of Warangal. The erstwhile Kakatiya capital of the 11th and 12th century is known for its shimmering lakes, beautiful temples and magnificent wildlife. The Kakatiya's ruled the city for over 200 years, decorating its interiors with some of the very best architectural splendors. The most famous of the structures is the thousand pillar temple, built in 1163 AD by king Rudra Dev. Built according to typical Chalukyan style of architecture, the thousand pillar temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Surya. One thousand ornately carved pillars adorn the temple complex while a huge granite statue of Nandi, the bull is placed at the entrance. Neatly carved rock elephants built on either side greet the visitors at the temple entrance.

Warangal Fort
In the early 13th century during the reign of Ganapatideva, the capital was moved from Hanamkonda to the new city of Warangal, which was laid out in a circular plan with three concentric rings of walls. The first ring which constitutes the Fort has high walls made of massive granite blocks laid without mortar. Inner faces of the walls have steps ascending to a path that runs along the top. Entrance gateways like the one seen here were renovated in Bahmani times as is clear from the sculpted fragments reused from dismantled temples. Here a temple ceiling fragment is placed in a niche. The image is of Vishnu carried by Garuda and surrounded by attendants. Above this some granite blocks are replaced by panels of elephants and yali.

After your visit check in at your hotel.

Post lunch you will proceed for visit to Ramappa Temple

Ramappa Temple
Situated 74 Km from Warangal, the medieval Ramappa Temple was build by the Kakatiya kings during the 13th century. The beautiful architecture and rich intricately carved walls, roof, pillars and sculptures display the artistic prowess of the Kakatiya rulers. The picture perfect Ramappa Lake is situated nearby. The place can be easily accessed by local buses and taxis while accommodation is available in the form of tourist guest houses and cottages located on the banks of the Ramappa Lake.
