Chinatown has been the main Chinese trading centre since the Chinese community was moved from its old site more than 200 years ago to make way for the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew complex. Then visit the flower market at Pak Klong Talad. A stop will also be made at Wat Suthat with its superb carved wooden doors and the remains of beautiful murals dating from the reign of Rama III (1842-1851). In front of the temple is the tall, spectacular Giant Swing. Then return to the hotel.

e highlight of this full-day excursion is a visit to the remote forest temple of Wat Pha Luangtabua, some 160 kms from Bangkok. In these beautiful surroundings, dedicated Buddhist monks live with numerous wild animals including ten tigers, which they take for a walk on a leash every afternoon. This is one of the most extraordinary sights you will ever see in Thailand, and is probably unique in the world. In such proximity to the tigers, all visitors must exercise caution, and never act in any way that might disturb or frighten the beasts.
